Dr Hywel Morris (m)

Dr MorrisMB BS MRCS MRCGP DRCOG LRCP My first name is pronounced Howel. I was brought up in north London in a welsh-speaking family. I qualified in 1978 from St Bartholomew's Medical School. After house jobs in Plymouth and Manchester I was fortunate to be appointed to the three-year General Practitioner training scheme in Salisbury. I became a Partner in this Practice in April 1984 after fifteen months as a Partner in a Practice in rural northeast Essex. My wife Caroline is a Practice Nurse in Salisbury. I have four grown up children. My medical interests are therapeutics, joint injections, and medical education. I am lead physician for the Practice's diabetic services. I am responsible for the training of F2 doctors in the practice. In my leisure time I am a very keen dinghy sailor and I am an active member of Spinnaker sailing club at Ringwood.

Dr Martin Gannon (m)

Dr GannonMB BS MRCGP DRCOG I decided I wanted to train for medicine in my early teens and wanted to be a GP early on. I qualified in 1980 from The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel. After working in Chelmsford and in Hull, I joined the three-year Salisbury GP Training Scheme which was linked to the Fordingbridge Practice. Being offered a partnership at Fordingbridge in 1985 was a dream come true! Within the Practice my main interests are preventative medicine and Practice management. Away from work my interests are mainly sporting. I was a black belt at judo and joined the national squad at 18. My love of rugby was encouraged for many years when playing for Fordingbridge Rugby Club, and continues as a spectator. In my forties I've turned to endurance sport, running marathons, cycling and triathlon. These events have taught me that although there is no substitute for youth and talent, experience and determination are just as important in sport and in life.

Dr Eamon Staunton (m)

Dr StauntonAt the end of February 2012, Dr Eamon Staunton will be leaving the Fordingbridge Practice to take a post working as a volunteer doctor in a remote part of the Nepalese Himalayas. After 25 years of dedicated service to the practice we know he will be missed and we wish him well for the future.

We are delighted to welcome Dr Jennifer Duggal who is joining the practice as a Salaried GP. She is a very experienced GP and has indeed worked with us as a locum regularly over the last 18 months and she will be looking after some of Dr Staunton’s patients when he leaves. A proportion of Dr Staunton’s patients have been transferred to other partners, and the remainder will be registered with Dr Jennifer Duggal.

Dr Simon Smith (m)

Simon SmithMB BS DCH DRCOG MRCGP FRCGP I qualified from Westminster and Charing Cross Medical School in 1987. I completed my GP training in Guildford and I joined The Fordingbridge Surgery in 1998. I qualified for the fellowship of the Royal College of GP's in Spring 2010. Within the Practice I am a GP trainer and also the Doctor for the local school. I also have an interest in cryotherapy. Outside work my life is entwined by our five children, five dogs, sheep, chickens and a strong pair of wellies! My other interests - when I get the chance - are mainly reading, writing and painting, with a little tennis to keep fit.

Dr Phil Downes (m)

Dr DownesMB BS DRCOG DFFP MRCGP Born and bred in the New Forest, and having completed my GP training at Fordingbridge, I am proud to be a true local! I have enjoyed practising in New Zealand and Denmark, but come from a medical family and have always wanted to be a GP. I am thrilled to be a young Partner in this happy Practice. I am responsible for the Warfarin Clinic, and am involved in training GPs at the surgery. I am an enthusiastic supporter of The Friends of Fordingbridge Surgery, believing it brings the Practice closer together.

Dr Janet McGee (f)

BA (Hons) BM BCh MRCP (UK) FP Cert DRCOG MRCGP
Dr McGeeI started my medicine late, having done a degree in physiology first. I qualified from Oxford in 1985. I took up my first General Practice Partnership in London in 1990. I became a Partner at The Fordingbridge Surgery in July 2002.

Within this Practice I am responsible for the teaching of medical students. I became a trainer of GP Registrars in 2007. I help, whenever possible, at the Deanery with choosing the young doctors that go into General Practice training and by sitting on the panel that ensures the GP's in training are progressing properly.

My husband is a Consultant Radiologist at Salisbury District Hospital, and we have one son who is at University.

Outside the Practice I try ('try' but never succeed) to keep the garden and house under control, and keep myself fit. Various and varied roles and responsibilities within the community also keep me busy. In Sept 2009 I started a part time post graduate course in Education. We enjoy walking, music, eating out and holidays as a family.

Dr Toby Wallis (m)

Dr WallisMB BS MRCGP DRCOG I graduated from Charing Cross in 1997 and underwent my vocational training in Poole, picking up surgical skills along the way. I joined the Practice in January 2004. I joined the Practice at an exciting time in general practice during a change to the GP contract and with new opportunities surfacing. My general practice interests are cardiovascular and family medicine as well as minor surgery. I particularly enjoy the continuity of care that general practice allows. I have established a Minor Surgery service for the Practice, removing lumps and bumps and providing skin biopsy diagnoses. As an extension to this I am providing a Vasectomy service performing approximately 100 vasectomies per year. (link to vasectomy information). In the last 3 years I have been the clinical lead for Practice Based Commissioning. This role allows the practice some say in how future services will be shaped. Away from Surgery, I have a family with 3 children, all boys and enjoy water sports and mountain biking, with and without them!.

Dr Joanna Dingley (f)

Dr DingleyBMedSci BMBS DCH MRCGP I was brought up in Lyndhurst and feel so pleased and privileged to have been able to return to the New Forest to be a Partner in this dynamic and happy Practice. I qualified from Nottingham in 2000 and worked for a couple of years in New Zealand before returning to Salisbury to complete my GP training which culminated as a GP Registrar here in Fordingbridge. I joined the Fordingbridge Surgery as a Partner in May 2008 and so far have loved every minute! My interests are in child health and practice management. There are many changes and opportunities within General Practice at the moment and I hope to be able to make the most of these for the benefit of our patients. I live in Salisbury with my husband who is a renal doctor, and our five hens. In my spare time I enjoy reading, travel and more recently I have been re-landscaping and replanting our back garden.
